Two individuals were apprehended by the New York Police Department (NYPD) following the discovery of “suspicious devices” outside the residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The incident occurred near Gracie Mansion during an anti-Islam protest, organized by conservative influencer Jake Lang.
The Discovery and Aftermath
Photographs obtained by various media outlets depict one of the devices, which is ovular and wrapped in silver duct tape. In another image, an individual is seen holding an item that appeared to be smoking, before seemingly tossing it towards police officers. The NYPD confirmed that this person was subsequently handcuffed.
No Injuries Reported, but Tensions Remain
It is unclear if Mayor Mamdani or his wife, Rama Duwaji, were present at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the NYPD reported no injuries. This event comes amidst ongoing prejudice faced by Mayor Mamdani since his campaign for office commenced last year.
