Michigan Congressman John James has found himself in the midst of a government shutdown, but he’s trying to shift the focus away from the crisis by sharing a vintage video of himself at a shooting range.
The video, which was originally published by the Michigan Enjoyer in August 2025, shows James taking down targets with hand guns and assault rifles, as well as performing pull-ups. In the caption, James claims he went shooting with the good people at the Michigan Enjoyer, but it’s clear that the video is several months old.
Rep. James’ Attempt to Distract from the Government Shutdown
James is running for governor in November, and it seems he’s trying to use the shooting video to change the narrative and distract voters from the ongoing government shutdown. This move is reminiscent of other politicians who have used similar tactics in the past, such as Senator Lindsey Graham, who shared a skeet shooting photo after being spotted riding Space Mountain at Disney World.
