Both girls were students at the same school, and their untimely deaths have raised concerns about road safety and the need for greater awareness about the consequences of hit-and-run driving. According to reports, Smith, 18, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on March 30, while Harris, also 18, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on March 21.
