When a recent online article sparked a wave of comments accusing her of using artificial intelligence to write her bestselling books, author Freida McFadden took to Facebook to set the record straight. In a candid post dated April 18, she emphatically denied the allegations and reaffirmed her commitment to writing by hand.
The Origin of the Rumor
McFadden first learned of the accusations when she stumbled upon a piece that mentioned her name. The comments section was flooded with skeptics who claimed she had admitted to using AI, a claim she has repeatedly denied in interviews and on her own platforms. “I was stunned to see tons of comments from people saying not only that I use AI to write books, but also that I admitted it!” she wrote. “This is blatantly untrue. I have said multiple times that I do NOT use AI both here and in official interviews, but maybe I’ve been too subtle?”
Her response was straightforward: “I DO NOT USE AI TO WRITE MY BOOKS. I WILL NEVER USE AI TO WRITE MY BOOKS.” She even joked about making her stance more visible—”Do I need a larger font and neon colors? Maybe flashing words? Or is that too 1999?”—highlighting how she feels the message is already clear.
