Chad Michael Murray, who played the teenage love interest John in the movie, was among the invited guests. According to Murray, he extended a personal invitation to Hilary Duff, who was then promoting her own teen\u2011romance hit, <em>A Cinderella Story<\/em>. \u201cHe was like, \u2018You should come with me,\u2019\u201d Duff recalled on the February episode of the <em>Call Her Daddy<\/em> podcast. \u201cI was like, \u2018Mhm, probably I should.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Duff\u2019s presence at the red carpet was not part of the original guest list, but Murray\u2019s invitation gave her a reason to attend.
