After a long hiatus and a series of production hurdles, HBO’s cultural phenomenon Euphoria is finally back on the air. Fans who have been waiting for fresh episodes since the end of Season 2 in early 2022 can now mark their calendars: the third season will premiere on April 12, 2026. Below we break down the key details, the challenges that delayed the show, the new twists the cast is hinting at, and how you can catch the new episodes.

Season 3 Release Date and Premiere Details

HBO officially confirmed the premiere date in a press release that also teased a brand‑new trailer. The episode will drop on the network’s flagship streaming platform, HBO Max, with the first episode airing on the morning of April 12, 2026. The season will consist of ten episodes, each running approximately 45 minutes, following the same format that has become a hallmark of the series.

For those who prefer a traditional TV schedule, HBO has stated that the show will also be broadcast on its linear channel in the United States on the same day, with subsequent episodes airing weekly. International viewers can expect the episodes to be available on HBO’s global streaming service, with subtitles in multiple languages.

Behind the Scenes: Production Challenges and Cast Loss

While the announcement of a release date is exciting, the journey to get there was anything but smooth. Production on Season 3 was delayed by a combination of industry strikes, logistical setbacks, and the heartbreaking loss of a beloved cast member.

  • 2023 SAG‑AFTRA Strike: The writers’ and actors’ union strike that began in 2023 halted filming for several months. The strike forced the production team to pause all shooting schedules, pushing the start of filming back to late 2024.
  • COVID‑19 Resurgence: Even after the strike ended, sporadic COVID‑19 outbreaks on set caused further delays, as crew members had to quarantine and production had to adhere to new health protocols.
  • Passing of Angus Cloud: The death of Angus Cloud, who portrayed the character of Jules, in July 2023 at the age of 25, was a profound loss for the cast and crew. The show’s creators and actors have spoken publicly about the impact of his passing, and the third season will pay tribute to his legacy.

Despite these obstacles, HBO remained committed to delivering a high‑quality season. In November 2023, executives reaffirmed their confidence in creator Sam Levinson and the ensemble cast, emphasizing the show’s importance to the network’s lineup.

Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Executive Vice President of Programming, said in a statement: “Sam Levinson, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season
