Kanye West, the renowned rapper and fashion designer, is facing yet another legal challenge. A former employee, Jonathan Monroe, is seeking nearly $1 million in court for unpaid wages and other damages. This latest issue comes as West’s reputation continues to be marred by controversy and financial disputes.
Background on the Lawsuit
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jonathan Monroe worked as a full-time security guard for Kanye West in 2021. Monroe claims that he was not paid all the wages owed to him and was denied overtime. The former employee is seeking damages totaling around $850,000, including $7,725 for unpaid overtime, $37,620 in lost wages, $500,000 in lost earnings, $100,000 for his pain and suffering, and another $100,000 in punitive damages.
Monroe’s Claims Against Kanye West
In his original lawsuit, Monroe alleged that he tried to collect the money owed to him but was given the run-around. One particularly disturbing incident involved West asking Monroe to fill up the tank of his Lamborghini. When Monroe requested cash or the use of West’s credit card to cover the expense, West allegedly walked away without responding. This behavior has raised questions about West’s treatment of his employees and his accountability for his actions.
