Rapper Kodak Black has been taken into custody in Florida on allegations of drug trafficking, marking another legal challenge in his ongoing history of run-ins with the law. The arrest, which occurred on Wednesday, stems from a coordinated surrender related to a November 2025 case involving a vehicle search that uncovered items linked to the artist. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Black was booked into the Orange County Corrections Department on charges of trafficking “METHYLE.-METH (MDMA),” a synthetic stimulant commonly known as ecstasy.

The arrest followed a months-long investigation tied to a November 2025 incident in which law enforcement searched a vehicle occupied by a single passenger who was not Kodak Black. During the search, officers discovered a bag containing multiple items, including a bottle of prescription cough syrup. Authorities allege that Black’s fingerprint was found on the bottle, leading to the trafficking charge. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, has publicly criticized the case, calling the legal basis “weak” and suggesting it reflects a pattern of overzealous prosecution. Cohen stated, “We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed.” The rapper’s mugshot, showing him with his signature dreadlocks, quickly circulated online, drawing renewed public attention to his legal troubles.

Bradford Cohen, who has represented Black in multiple cases, emphasized that the trafficking charge lacks substantial evidence. He pointed out that the vehicle search involved a passenger who was not the rapper, and the presence of his fingerprint on a bottle of cough syrup does not necessarily implicate him in drug trafficking. Cohen has previously argued that Black’s high-profile status makes him a target for law enforcement, a claim that has been echoed in past cases. The attorney plans to challenge the charges in court, leveraging what he describes as procedural flaws and insufficient evidence. This case adds to a long list of legal issues for the rapper, including previous arrests for drug possession, weapons charges, and assault. Despite these challenges, Black has maintained a presence in the music industry, releasing new music and performing at events, though his career has been intermittently disrupted by legal proceedings.
